Here are several examples of my video production work (there is also a reel of my work on-camera). These are examples of documentary film, sports journalism and public relations. If you were to ask the professors with whom I worked in J202 about one of the things I emphasize in production they will tell you it's natural sound. This is a short documentary about a young boxer who uses boxing in his struggle to overcome the loss of his father through suicide. He also lives in the gym where he trains.

Here are a few examples of my work in front of the camera as a sports reporter and anchor. Some of these are in Huntsville, Alabama and then in Dallas, Texas. When I was a reporter in Alabama I did some experiential storytelling. One of the audience favorites was when I played goalie for a division one hockey team during pracitce.

This is a public relations/soft marketing video for the Madison Radicals - the professional ultimate team. This one focuses on the fan experience at the games.

Madison Radicals Combine 2015

This was created for Madison Commons. The Madison Radicals is one of the country's top professional Ultimate Frisbee teams. They recently held a combine/tryout looking for new players to join the team. Radicals General Manager Tim Debyl said that out of the 85 players who tried out, nearly half commuted from outside of the city of Madison. Jay Froude drove more than six hours from Columbia, Missouri to get a shot at playing this sport at the pro level.

This is a short documentary that I produced shot and edited. It features the iconic Central Texas music venue, Gruene Hall. Everyone from George Strait, to Lyle Lovett to Garth Brooks has performed there. After completion, the owners included it as a promotional component on their website.

Madison Commons - Madison Minotaurs Rugby Club

I was asked to help a student who was seeking a career in television sports reporting. I worked with her to create this story for Madison Commons. The Madison Minotaurs are comprised mostly of gay or bisexual men according to club president, Greg Faber. The Minotaurs have been around for seven years and are members of the International Gay Rugby Association & Board (IGRAB) and the Wisconsin Rugby Club. Madison Commons reporter, Brooke Rayford, joined one of the team's summer workouts and sat down with Faber to talk about this unique Madison organization.

Blade Throwers

This short film covers the Central U.S. Knife Throwing Championships which took place in Oct. 2007 in Austin, Tx. It introduces the sport and a number of the competitors, particularly 13 year-old phenom Rudd Pickett from Missouri. While most of us may not even realize that knife throwing is a competitive sport, for those that attended the Central U.S. championships, this event was their Super Bowl. I plan to add some music and graphics to the film but decided to go ahead and upload it in its current state. I hope you enjoy it...let me know what you think.
